Janet's Herb Pages

Janet's Herb Pages have been around in one form or another since 1998.   Over the years, my amateur web skills have grown along with the gardens .. so it is slowly shaping up to its original and only objective .... which has always been to provide a free resource based on lessons learned over the years.
Once again the site is morphing through another revision ... so long time visitors will see a few changes.   There is just so much info building up that it needs to be organized more sensibly.
The Gardening resources are still going to be there .. but I have finally come to accept that if I live a lovely little Zone 6B pocket that I should really only discuss herbs that can be grown in my own yard.
All the gardening info is still going to be there ... simply sorted out so that site visitors can find it more easily.
In the interests of clarity .. the Harvesting and Keeping bits have been set into their own section instead of buried with the gardening info.
Recipes are coming back in .. and while there will still be a few fancy things the focus is going to be more on cooking well on a budget.   No matter what path one walks, prices just seem to keep spiralling up, eh?  And of course, for every pagan employed as a well paid professional, there are dozens more who have pay closer attention to all of their purchases :(    Sadly, even in 2012, in a province where even the city is a small communities, there are not always as many opportunities for out of the broom closet pagans :(
There is going to be a survival guide section growing too!  Why would a middle aged grandmother do that?  Because it is the worst sort of prejudice to put being properly prepared as a bad thing.   Our weather is getting more extreme ... we are not immune from the volatility of today's markets .. and here in Nova Scotia we have already lost more jobs than the well touted shipbuilding contract can ever hope to replace.
That actually ties in rather well with all the homely arts bits from the past that are part and parcel of this site, eh?
The other big change is that I have finally surrendered to common sense and realized that trying to keep a gardening blog is never going to be an achievable objective for me!   So ALL the gardening bits will be on the site.  From pictures to new projects through to everything in between ... this blog is also going back to its roots.   I can't help it ... someone just keeps leaving that darned soapbox out where i can find it, eh?
Why .. you ask .. when I already have another blog for that?   The short version is that Reigning Cats and Dogs has a specific focus ...  animal related issues!
Me and my big mouth have more to say on everything else too ... so it will be said here :)

Star ... who is known in some circles as the Harmony Hag but is best defined as a down to earth hillbilly dirt witch.
